Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic Senior Technician to spearhead application development and prototype testing within our Systems Engineering R&D department. This role is pivotal in enhancing commercial roofing efficiency through innovative product and system improvements. By gathering critical contractor feedback and collaborating across departments, you will drive initiatives that significantly impact operational efficiency and product excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engage directly with roofing contractors to gather, analyze, and synthesize feedback into actionable insights.
• Collaborate with departments such as Technical, Building and Roofing Science, CARE, Marketing, and Manufacturing to ensure product and service excellence.
• Lead the development of a Tinker Lab for prototyping novel product ideas, ensuring lab safety and innovation.
• Foster customer relationships through active participation in trade events and contractor gatherings.
• Present findings and insights to both internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of technological trends within the building science and design community.
• Translate customer insights into problem-solving opportunities, working closely with R&D, Marketing, and Technical teams to develop, test, and refine prototypes.

Job Requirements:

• A 4-year engineering degree (Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Civil) or a 2-year degree with significant roofing industry experience.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the United States, including air travel and driving.
• Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., SolidWorks) and experience with commercial 3D printers for model creation.
• Skilled in using survey systems for feedback collection to guide product and service development.
• Comfortable with active job site visits for material installation and system inspection.
