Lab Technician-HVAC Engineering 2nd Shift Location: Charlotte, NC Job ID: Pay Range: $31-36 ONSITE ROLE - 2nd SHIFT 230P-12a OT Required, M-F Lab Technician-HVAC Engineering About this role: This position performs basic to moderately complex technical tasks on Air-Cooled Chillers which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects. Collaborates with higher level support staff to confer with engineers on details and implications of test procedures and results. Key Responsibilities Will work to perform tests and evaluate results for Commercial Chillers in an engineering laboratory. Connect and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and refrigeration systems on Charlotte manufactured equipment Familiarity with electrical work, including 460-3-60 machinery Familiarity with HVAC operation, refrigerant handling, and EPA certification is a plus Experience with pumps, VFDs, boilers, control valves, and PLC operation is a plus LO/TO controls troubleshooting and Arc Flash training is helpful Works under moderate supervision to provide technical support to engineers on a variety of engineering tasks Performs basic to moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects Operates, inspects and maintains test setups and equipment to detect malfunctions Collaborates with higher-level support staff to confer with engineers on details and implications of test procedures and results Required Qualifications Technical/Business School Certificate or High School Diploma or GED or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship 5+ years of experience with Commercial HVAC Service or testing or Commercial Industrial or operation 1+ years of experience with hand/pneumatic tools, advanced shop mathematics, complex measuring equipment, precision measuring instruments Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree strongly preferred Experience with Instrumentation set up, troubleshooting and calibration Use of laboratory equipment with pressure, temperature, and electrical measurements is very important. HP Agilent systems, Lab Pro, Labview, and MS office products preferred. Strong PC skills Strong mechanical, electrical, troubleshooting background, and be mechanically inclined.- strongly preferred Experience with VFD's pumps, cooling towers, heavy electrical switchgears, motor controls centers.
