Northrop Grumman SYNOPTICS is the world-wide leader in the growth, fabrication, and coating of crystalline materials used in laser systems. These "solid-state" laser crystals are used in products ranging from medical lasers to military laser systems. The Charlotte facility has been operating for over 40 years in the laser industry and has developed the reputation of providing the highest quality products with timely deliveries. Within the facility, solid-state oxide and fluoride crystals are grown from a high-temperature melt. SYNOPTICS has full optical fabrication capabilities for various plano and spherical geometries as well as a class 10,000 clean room for high-damage threshold thin-film optical coatings. SYNOPTICS serves the photonics and optics industry across the globe.

We seek a Foreman to join our growing team.

Job duties

Manage the operations and employee performance for the Slabs department, including production scheduling, quality assurance and executing continuous improvement initiatives. Be able to plan weeks ahead to meet production demands by ensuring maximum throughput with available resources
Partner with the department engineer and off-shift supervisors to manage off-shift personnel and production priorities effectively. Ensure process, tooling, and manpower are in place to meet ever-changing demands
Use available Skill Matrix to actively develop the workforce's skill set to meet the department needs and employees' growth. Maintaining accurate training records
Maintain organized, clean, safe, and efficient manufacturing operations. Keep strong 5S and PM discipline.
Assist in training, auditing manufacturing and testing procedures, and troubleshooting manufacturing issues
Address and solve critical operational and employee performance issues in a timely manner
Demonstrate leadership behaviors to motivate and engage employees and build trust and confidence amongst the management team and peers
Lead the workforce to meet specified operational metrics and area goals, including continuous improvement projects, reducing Cost of Poor Quality, improving On Time Shipments, and enhancing employee engagement

Basic Qualifications:

Associate's degree in a technical or business discipline
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong computer skills, utilizing Microsoft products
Basic data analysis skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
Experience with an ERP system and database querying
Prior supervision experience in manufacturing, production control, inventory management, and capacity planning

Salary Range: $77,900.00 - $116,900.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
